Bio
Randall Grantham is a life long resident of Lutz, Florida, who has practiced law since 1981. He started his practice as an assistant Public Defender in the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville and, after several years as an Assistant Public Defender in Dade City, Pasco County, Florida, went in to private practice in 1986.
Mr Grantham holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbel, which is the highest rating available, reflecting the respect and trust placed in him by his peers in the legal field.
Randall attended Lutz Elementary School, Buchanan Jr High and Chamberlain High School, all in Hillsborough County, before attending the University of South Florida where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He then attended the University of Florida Law School and graduated in 1980, less than a month after his 23rd birthday.
Mr Grantham has appeared in State Courts from Miami to Jacksonville, but currently limits his geographic area of practice to Hillsborough and Pasco Counties, usually. He has represented citizens accused of nearly every crime imaginable from Murder and Rape to the now more often DUI and Drug offense cases. Some of the cases handled by Randall have made local and National news (Article 1, Article 2, Article 3, Article 4, Article 5, Article 6, Article 7, Article 8, Article 9) and all cases are handled with strict confidentiality and discretion. He is admitted to practice law in both the State court area and the Middle District of Florida Federal Court
Mr Grantham is a member of the Florida Bar in good standing since 1981 and is also a member of the Criminal law section of the Bar. He is a member of the National, Florida and Hillsborough County Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL, FACDL & HCACDL) and is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. His firm has access to the full resources of the Westlaw online research database and Mr. Grantham stays current with developing law by attending Continuing Legal Education seminars on a regular basis.
His offices in Lutz have a Library which can also be used for multi-party conferences, mediations and depositions.
In addition to the practice of law, Mr Grantham is also a regular commentary writer in the various newspapers published in the area by Community News Publications, such as The Laker, Community News, The Beacon and The Carrollwood News (Click to view). He has been recognized statewide with an award from the SOMESORT of Press Association for his work. He began his editorial writing in 1998 with a local independent publication named “ In The Loop”, and continued to write for that publication for a short time after they were purchased in 2001 by the Media General Group, which also owns the Tampa Tribune.
When he’s not defending citizens accused of crimes or writing commentary for the paper, Mr. Grantham is an amateur photographer who has won several awards for his photographs in local competitions.
